Annual Holiday Card

ART DIRECTION, PHOTOGRAPHY & DESIGN
This holiday card design is inspired by The Cut-Outs by Henri Matisse, and the handcrafted cards I had been making from cut paper, but on a grander scale. I wanted the colors and shapes to show excitement for the year ahead.

I designed the layouts and drew all of the shapes digitally, then cut out each shape from colored paper. I assembled the cut-outs on foam board to create a backdrop for the photograph. I then photographed my dog, whom I include in each year’s holiday card, on the backdrop. The final photo was used in a designed card that was printed and mailed to friends and family.

This holiday card design is inspired by paper snowflakes I made as a child. I wanted to create a whimsical winter scene using cut paper.

I cut out each snowflake and shape from paper, and carefully assembled them to create a three dimensional space. I then photographed my dog, whom I include in each year’s holiday card, within the scene. The final photo was used in a designed card that was printed and mailed to friends and family.
